Dr. Sandu is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech, an ASME Fellow, and the Director of the Advanced Vehicle Dynamics Laboratory. Dr. Sandu's research focuses on the modeling and simulation of multibody dynamics under uncertainty, parameter estimation, design optimization, stochastic soil and terrain modeling, on- and off-road vehicle dynamics, tire and track modeling, and terramechanics. She received the SAE Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award in 2007, the SAE Forest R. McFarland Award, and the Rodica Baranescu Award in 2013. Dr. Sandu is Chair of the SAE Chassis and Suspension Committee and Secretary of the ASME DED Executive Committee.

He is currently a member of the SAE Inflatable Restraints Standards Committee and the SAE Impulse Noise Task Force and is past chairman of the Passenger Car Steering, Chassis, and Suspension Readers Committee, the Technical Quality Response Team, and the Congress Noise and Vibration Conference Committee. He is a member of the SAE Chassis and Suspension Committee, SAE Materials Modeling and Testing Committee, SAE Technical Quality Response Team, and ASME Vehicle Design Committee. He has been a co-organizer for the SAE WCX Vehicle Loads and Performance program since 2005. Dr. Xu served as chair of the SAE Materials Modeling and Testing Committee between 2014 and 2016. Xu received the SAE Forest R. McFarland Award in 2011 and was elected to be an SAE Fellow in 2014.

Dr. Krovi’s research interests are in the lifecycle treatment (design, modeling, analysis, control, implementation, and verification) of novel automation and cyber-physical systems, focusing both on theoretical formulation and experimental validation. His work examines novel design-architectures and scalable-control approaches for modulating physical power (motions/forces) in Distributed Systems to unlock this “power of the many” in emerging automotive, plant-automation, co-robotics, and defense application arenas. His research has been funded by NSF, DARPA, and ARO as well as numerous state and industrial grants. His work has been published in more than 175 journal/conference articles, book chapters, and patents. He has received multiple awards, including the National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award, and the Petro-Canada Young Innovator Award.

Since 2011 he has been the chairman of the SAE Vehicle Electrical Systems Security Committee and has over 30 years of experience in automotive electrical system design.

Mr. Harnett is a Cybersecurity Program Manager (PM) with more than 36 years of experience providing technical leadership in planning, implementing, and managing high-priority programs involving cybersecurity and risk management for the DOT, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Highway and Traffic Safety (NHTSA), DOD/USAF, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), NASA, DHS, and other agencies.

Active in all areas of automotive and transportation cybersecurity and privacy, Dr. Weimerskirch is a main designer of the vehicle-to-vehicle security system, which will likely be the largest security system ever deployed. He is co-founder of the American workshop on embedded security in cars (escar USA), vice chair of the SAE Vehicle Electrical System Security Committee, co-chair of the Michigan Mobility Transformation Center (MTC) cybersecurity working group, co-organizer the SAE ComVEC heavy vehicle cybersecurity session, and a member of the joint SAE/ISO Cybersecurity Working Group.
